Fresh off her scorching hot debut for Nookies, we caught up with the incredibly beautiful Venus Valencia. Within moments, we quickly learned she is every bit as captivating, clever, and commanding off-camera as she is when she’s performing on-camera.
1.) Hi Venus! Welcome to Nookies! Tell us about yourself, such as your background, ethnicity, and where you are from. Also, please share some fun, interesting or cool facts about yourself with us.
I’m originally from BC, Canada, and left 15 years ago to travel the world. I lived and traveled to 70 countries before deciding to make California home. I worked as a spiritual teacher and self help author during those 15 years, hosting workshops and retreats around the world. I’ve written 4 internationally best selling books in self help and women’s empowerment. I’m currently on the journey of learning to integrate and share my spiritual and sexual journeys, and sharing those adventures openly with both audiences.
2.) What inspired you to pursue a career in adult entertainment, and what was your first experience on set like?
Whew, how to keep this short, and also honest. There’s many layers to it! I was visiting Canada when I was 33 and did the one thing I never thought I’d do; fall in love with a Canadian man. (I love where I’m from but never wanted to settle down there), I ended up having a miscarriage with him which was devastating, and a couple months later he passed away in an accident. It was a big tower card moment where I felt a big part of me died as well, I had to pull back from my regular career where I was holding space for and coaching hundreds of women online and in person, reevaluate my life, and take care of myself. After a few months of healing alone in the mountains I decided to start adult films, as it felt like a lot less pressure and felt very alive in me at the time, rather than fully returning to my spiritual career. It didn’t make sense but I honoured what my body and soul were pulling me towards. Even when it came with a lot of judgment from my community and I lost a lot of my clients. I am very proud of myself for honouring my path even if it ruined my reputation in ways. It was like a final initiation into not giving a fuck what others think, and that was very empowering for me.
3.) How did your first professional scene go—any nerves or funny moments?
I was a little nervous. I actually never watched a porn video until I was in about 50 films myself! So at that point I had no idea what to expect. My first scene was VR for Naughty America and it was fabulous, although challenging as my co-star was huge and I wasn’t quite prepared, and didn’t know how to prepare. My next time on set was as an extra for Brazzers and I remember Mick Blue was filming and asked me why I entered the industry. I briefly told him my story and also that I had decided I wanted my 30’s to be more wild than my 20’s! He told me “but porn isn’t that wild…” I was really confused by the statement but quickly learned that it’s really like a regular 9-5 job at times and isn’t as crazy as those outside of the industry might believe! Which is a great thing as I wouldn’t have been able to stay as long as I have if it were.
4.) Is there a particular scene that stands out as your favorite so far?
Oh wow, that’s hard as I’ve enjoyed many. I really love my Milfy scene, I like challenging myself with dialogue and enjoy a full production. I’ve only had one BBG so far with Filthy Family and loved it, I hope to have more of them as that was a main fantasy I desired to experience when I entered the industry.
5.) How do you prepare mentally and physically before a shoot?
As a writer I’m in my thoughts a lot, I have some empowering notes I read over in my phone sometimes before a scene if I’m feeling nervous, or meditate before to drop into my body and be present. I remind myself of my intentions and goals. As with anything in life you show up better when you know why you’re doing it and where you want to go. Physically it’s been important to take the utmost care of my body outside of work and truly treat it like a temple. I eat healthy (I’ve been vegan for 21 years), go to the gym, practice yoga and Pilates, and have spa days often. I also energetically cleanse after scenes; in the shower or bath I envision releasing others’ energies from my field, I will also sage and practice breathwork to push out other energies and only hold onto my own. I think this is very important for performers.
6.) What are your favorite sex positions?
Basically anything with deep contact and presence. Bent over in front of a mirror making deep eye contact is always hot. It really depends on my partner as pleasure is experienced differently physically and energetically with each person.
7.) How do you balance your dominatrix, commanding side with your more playful, flirty side?
I feel power dynamics come out in different environments and connections. Just as different aspects of ourselves come out depending who we’re around. I’m professionally trained as a dominatrix and it was confusing for me at first because I was drawn to the art of it, but I wasn’t like the classical domme. I found my own embodiment when I realized I could make it my own; I love focusing on worship and divine feminine energy, which I’ve been teaching and writing about for over a decade, I also like having the energy of what I experience as a dark fairy; a mischievous domme who is still playful and wickedly giggly, while dominating. My journey in the industry as well as in life has really been discovering all aspects of myself and learning how to integrate and express them all without apology. And having a ton of fun while doing so. 😉
8.) Who are some other companies you’d love to work with in the future?
Companies I’d love to work with that I haven’t yet include Vixen, Brazzers, Deeper, Digital Playground & Erika Lust films.
9.) If you could give one piece of advice to fans or aspiring performers, what would it be?
I believe it’s important for us all to work on releasing shame and to remember that sexual energy is sacred. It’s the most sacred energy in existence, because it IS existence. When we honor our erotic nature instead of hiding it, so much healing becomes possible; individually and collectively. I truly believe pornography can be one of the purest forms of art when it’s created with intention, consent, and connection. So my advice is: show up in your authenticity. Know that your desires, body, and feelings are sacred. Let your work be an expression of your truth and your unique expression, aka art. When you honor your desires, you remind others that their pleasure is also nothing to be ashamed of. Collectively we have so many problems and violence due to sexual energy. I really believe when we heal this, the world will heal. I say “porn heals!” And it triggers some. But it’s true. The artistic expression of sex and the receiving of that pleasure without shame, heals and empowers.
10.) What are your goals or aspirations for the future, both within and outside the industry?
Within the industry, I want to continue growing my community, collaborate on bigger productions, explore more of my dominatrix and divine feminine expression, and create films that teach men how to truly please and worship women. I want to expand the narrative of eroticism beyond the mainstream storyline and explore deeper realms of consciousness and feminine pleasure.
Outside the industry, I’ve built a successful career in spirituality and women’s empowerment. Now, I’m weaving these worlds together. I’m launching an Ayurvedic natural beauty company this year; a long time dream of mine! I’m also continuing to write books, lead retreats, and create transformational experiences. One of my greatest dreams is to establish a temple space in Los Angeles: a home for ritual, sensuality, exploration and community.
